Something happened

The last two days my right foot has killed me, putting on shoes is agony and walking hurts too.  I don’t know what I did.

Saturday is here and after having two kids in the bed knew it was time to get up.  Did the regular things like laundry and started cleaning.  While in Dayna’s room, I was tidying her doll’s bed and in a single moment there went my back.  I was stuck in a hunched position.  Slowly I was able to stand but boy there is a continuous pain in my left hip/bum area.

This really annoyed me as I had plans for a family walk today.

I slowly finished the cleaning and we had breakfast, I squeezed in a shower and hoped the hot water would help my aches (they didn’t).  It was soccer time and off we went.  Standing on the side for too long got the better of me so I joined Dayna in the car and read to her.  That was nice.

Homeward bound and Macaroni for lunch it was good.  We then watched an old movie together.  Martin and the kids had a banana choc chip muffin (which I made yesterday).  I didn’t as worked out they are 4 points each.

Isaiah and I played Connect 4 and I was proud of Isaiah as he didn’t not get upset when I won.  We then joined Martin in a Wii run.  Each of us then took turns doing exercise.  I did a bike ride but my aches really did not appreciate that.

Along with the above we have been watching the very slow activity happening next door.  Our neighbour is moving in but not in any hurry.  They have hardly been there today.  This is the reason for the muffins.  I was being Bree vander Kamp, and baked for the new neighbour.  We popped over around 7pm last night and they were there all drinking.  Hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Well that is my Saturday and it is now time to make home made burgers for din din.

A day that never ends

So today I was only supposed to go to work for 2 hours due to the reduced hours we are working at the moment.  I had mental plans of how to fill my day.  I was going to go for a walk, watch Oprah as only 2 weeks left of her show and a few other things.  9.00 – 11.00am well I got out of there at 2.40pm.  There goes my plans.  I am taking tomorrow off work so hopefully the weather holds and I can go for a walk.  I will also get to use my phone as my Ipod.

Isaiah is not well so looking after him and didn’t get round to cooking dinner.  We all had spaghetti or baked beans on toast.  It would have been so easy to grab take aways, but we didn’t.  yay us.

Well I have been waiting for my insurance refund for the Jetstar flight that was cancelled on 7 July.  I emailed a few weeks ago and had an email back saying it is processed within 10days and they received my request on 18 July.  I therefore expected some correspondence by Monday which didn’t happen.  I emailed on Tuesday to query the process but heard nothing.  Yesterday I called and a rude lady said they are still processing those received by the 8th.  I explained the email and she rudely said she would pull mine and get it actioned by the OVERTIME team (she stressed that point).  I received an email stating they needed written proof the flight had been cancelled by Jetstar and the condition of my ticket and also my ticket.  I called to query it because Jetstar text me so I had nothing in writing I could prove.  She wasn’t convinced of this.  She also asked why the flight was cancelled.  I advised I don’t know and this was a question I asked but they didn’t even know.  I decided to take a photo of my phone with the text as luckily I had saved it on my phone.  I am now hoping they accept it as proof and get on with giving me back my money.

I had been good so far having heaps of water that the bathroom is my new best friend.  I have been eating well and always under points.  The exercise is not as plentiful as I would like but I overdid it the other day so walking a few steps hurts.  I am about to go and do a set of weights so that is good.

On a different note the house next door that has been empty for over a year has a new owner moving in tomorrow.  We have been told she is young.  We are hoping young does not mean party animal.

Right there is no time like the present to do exercise.

The sad news is my posts of old are such a distant memory and feels like a whole lifetime ago.

I have known for ages my weight is at the point of ridiculous but I just get motivated.  I have noticed things like creases on the throat, saggy eyelids and all the other overweight signs, clothes too tight, thighs rubbing, skin irritating where the flab is.

So I finally got on the scales and they told me the harsh truth.  I have NEVER been this heavy.  99.5kg.  Here is where the title is applied.  Well I must do something about this.

Yesterday I had 8 glasses of water and 19 out of 21 points of food.  I also did 30mins exercise.

Today my body is tired from the exercise and so is my brain.  I have eaten 18 points and had 7 glasses of water so far.  I went for a 10min walk (all I had time for)  but will do some hand weights.  So far I have not missed anything so all is good.

My goal is to run a half marathon in Summer and fit summer clothes without hiding.  Continued motivation is what I need most.

Let the journey begin.

Hi

To all my readers. lol

I am no longer going to be working on this blog as I haven’t been diligent in doing so and I think I only have 2 people who read it and they are family.  They inspire me in many ways but I guess I am at the point that I have achieved my goal of doing a Duathlon so don’t feel the need to write each challenge, hurdle, success as I had.  This was why I originally set up my blog was to record my journey to the Duathlon.

I am still training and going to the gym and eating well so it is only the blog that is stopping.  BTW I lost 600g this week so am officially in the 70’s = 79.5kg.  I also am back at work with extra responsibilities and have three projects I am getting involved with as well so time is limited.

Thanks for reading and supporting me and I will start a new blog when time allows.

I bad

Ok I am bad but not due to healthy lifestyle so much but I have left you stranded with no blog.

This week our life has taken on the regular schedule but not really as we are throwing new things into the mix.  Martin is back at work in the normal hours so we do not have two sets of hands to get the kids sorted.  Also I am trying to be out the door by 8.10am ready for more scheduling changes.  So this is our morning

5.55am Alarm goes off.

6.10am I leave for the gym. There by 6.15am.  I have 3 different routines I do so have something different each time.  1) Full Cardio  2) 20mins cardio and then weight machines  3) Filthy Fifty Circuit

7.00/7.10am Leave gym

7.15am Make lunches

7.25am Jump in shower, have breakfast, get ready

7.50/8.00am Make sure kids are ready, shoes, hats, sunblock, teeth, hair- Dayna, hearing aid – Dayna.  Tidy lounge.

8.10am Leave the house

I used to get the laundry folded and dishes done but can’t fit that in now, so do it when I get home from the drop offs.

While I am at the gym Martin gets ready, gets the kids up and eating breakfast, makes the beds.  If possible starts getting them dressed and has his own breakfast.  He leaves at 7.30am.

It is full on.  Soon I will be dropping Dayna at Kindy at 8.15am and Isaiah at school at 8.30am and I will be at work just before 9.00am.  Hence the trial run now of getting to Kindy by 8.15am.

Anyway due to this and feeling tired from the new routine I have been catching up on other things and the blog has missed out temporarily.  I started to write something yesterday but didn’t get anything finished.

A bonus is we don’t have to do rubbish on Thursdays now as got a bin so that makes it a little easier and that goes out on Fridays.

Anyway I have been to the gym each morning and then early evening go our and do my training.  On Tuesday my head was pounding and I took Panadol but it didn’t clear up so I went for a power walk instead of my run.  Wednesday was a Day off (on a new training guide) I was tired as had a restless night so didn’t go to the gym.  I was going to do the Filthy Fifty so decided to do it from home last night.  Man it really pushes you and makes you work hard and in a tight time frame.  I felt sick afterwards.  It was horrible but I am pleased I did it and didn’t flag it like I could have.  BTW we have most the required equipment at home.  One exercise I couldn’t do which is a jumping chin up one so did 50 star jumps instead.

I have kept to my points this week for food.  I did however have to go to McDonald’s yesterday and I really really really wanted to eat a combo but resisted. yay for me.

Anyway as Monday was the official weigh day and I said I was 80.1kg and so close to the 70’s I weighed again Tuesday just hoping to see that 7 at the start.  Sure enough it was 79.8kg yahoo.  I am there at long last and may it continue.  I decided to try on my old skinny (so to speak) clothes and I now have 2 pairs back inside, one being my very favourite pairs.  I was excited.

Better go and check on Dayna and do some small projects as wanting to make a few gifts for the Kindy teachers from Isaiah.

I have a 50min moderate cycle tonight so that will be nice as another lovely Wellington day.

Nearly there

Ok so today is weigh day.

I jumped on the scales with such hope.  I just wanted a 500g loss but realistically knew I would have to wait just one more week.

So I did loose but it was 300g.  There are a few reasons this could have happened and I realise one is the few days of slack eating and another is I did loose 2.4kg the week prior also I am really struggling to budge these few kilos to jump over that line.  I guess a plateau would eventuate especially with 18kgs weight loss.  I am realistic and know I can still do it as have come this far and don’t have that feeling of throwing in the towel so I will just keep going and see what happens.

On a totally different note.

When I went shopping on Friday the deli dept had a competition that if you buy anything you put your receipt in the box and it would be drawn out.  So I did this and just got a call saying I won.  I had to ask what the prize was.  It is a Pink School bag filled with school books and bits.  I am yet to pick this up.  I remember seeing it now.  Funny thing is I don’t like pink.  Also Isaiah is the one off to school and I don’t think he would like pink either and I have all his bits.  I guess the good thing is I am really ready for April 2010 when Dayna is off to school.

Also on Saturday we got a $30 voucher for groceries due to points we had earned with our One card this will help for the 5th Birthday Party and also when I went to buy Spice (cat) her food from the pet store we had earned a free bag.  Yay so things this weekend have been jolly fantastic.  If only I won lotto.

Right better go and run some errands and pick up our winnings.

The Can I do it title taking on a new lease

So I did my Duathlon 1 week ago today.  Actually this time last week I would have been in the middle of a 10km bike ride.

I got a bit complacent this week.  I was tired and exhausted and lost all determination.  I had written up my next 10week training programme but just couldn’t find motivation really to carry it on.  I think my head was the thing holding me back.

5months of working towards my 1st Duathlon and in a matter of 2hours it was all over and nearly a distant memory.  I had to find a renewed determination to get me to the next one.  To add to the mix life here was starting to become a scheduled house again after 6weeks of taking it easy with the time.  Suddenly we had places to be at early hours and needed to get so much into the morning before leaving.

Well on Tuesday I did go for a run and Wednesday was a day off and then 3 days of training.  I also went back to the gym after 2 weeks off (1 week we were away and the next I was just focusing on the training and not over doing anything) I guess because of my exhaustion I relaxed in my eating too.  I would start the day well but slowly the treats would be consumed as the day wore on.  Also some late eating too.

I realised I better see what the scales said as still wanted to accomplish my goal of getting into the 70’s.  Boy was I the biggest idiot.  Exercising is not enough for me I have to do both healthy eating and exercise.  I nearly cried and that wasn’t from the kick I gave myself.  So for 2 days now I have been super diligent but the scales aren’t working in my favour and are just laughing at me.

So I am back on track with training and exercising and eating.  Lets hope the next 21hours work for me and the scales smile in the morning.

Today I have had 2 waters, 1 glass OJ, 40g Light n Tasty and 1/2 cup milk.  Also been on a 10km bike ride.

Back in time

I just read my first blog on the 28th maybe 29th August 2008.  As I started it with the aim to get to today hence the Title ” Can I do it? Yes I can!  Well I sure can, I really did it.  So do I change the title or start a fresh.

I see I set goals there and they were 11mins, 36mins and 31mins.  So all up I bet that by 1minute.  The funny thing in reading the old entry was it said on my first week of training I went for a walk well I now run and it also said I went for a 20minute bike ride and that it was a struggle.  Well I just got home from a 10km bike ride with some big as hills.

So I am proud.  Also to date I have lost 17.8kg although official weigh in is in the morning.

What I need to do now is sort out my blog as there are so many things I don’t know how to do.  I don’t know a quick way to look at Blog 1.  I always get a double space if i press enter.  I don’t know how to add web addresses.  What are Pluggins?

Also when you have posted 100 times is there a tradition to follow.  Anita I know you did something special.  This is number 99 so another achievement aye.

Well yesterday I programme required me to do Turbo Jam but a shorter time than usual so I did the shorter one but it focuses on different muscles and 30minutes after I could feel my back ache.  Of course I was worried it would affect me today.  It wasn’t too bad but now I am in so much pain it is exhausting.  I just can’t get comfortable.

BTW tomorrow is the start of Kindy and Martin goes back to work so the routine and schedules all need to be mastered again and that includes my training time.

So there is a bit to look at and hope you stick round for the new stages I will go through.
