Rain, rain go away
Yesterday the party went well. It is amazing how tiring it is though at a pool party. I didn’t get in the water, just helped the birthday girl’s Mum. But the warmth due to an indoor heated pool and the chlorine just made me stuffed. Martin was in the pool with the kids and he said he was tired and the kids acted tired. We went for a bagel as Martin and I didn’t get lunch and Dayna fell asleep we carried her inside the shop but still she slept. Because we were the last customers of the day they gave us a dozen bagels. Quite handy as we have a potluck lunch today. We will take the bagels, toast them there and we bought some fancy spreads to schmear on.
We were so tired we just did baked beans on toast. Nothing was on TV last night and we were still tired so went to bed early and read. Now don’t get a shock but I am reading a book not by Danielle Steel. She is the only author I have read in 16years or so. I am reading Rachel’s Holiday by Marion Keyes (thanks Nadia). I am enjoying it although wished I wasn’t as tired as want to get into it more.
Today was a run day and it was raining and I didn’t even 2nd guess going. I got dressed and put on my shower proof black (only colour I have) jacket and stretched and took off. I did have my hood up as raining and didn’t want my headphones to get wet, so I was concerned if people thought I was a robber as running down the street with the black hood up.lol I would still look uncoordinated and not like someone out for a run, so more of a reason for people to wonder.
Anyway I kept running concentrating on my breathing in through nose out through mouth. I put myself in a zone and kept running and running (well was good to me) and ran at least 500m, so improving each session. I then did my 2/2 run walk. I got home and stretched and was talking and breathing like a normal person again. So I know I am getting better in all aspects of fitness as my recovery time is next to nothing. I also can see it possible to run the complete 1500m of stage 1 of the Duathlon. I am getting excited as starting to see the training take shape to meet the goal.
I was also impressed with myself as this was the first time my training took me outside while raining. I was definetly a drowned rat by the time I got home. But know nothing can put me off.
Well I have now completed 6 weeks of training and onto the week where they want ” The Tuesday ride you want to aim to be riding them a lot quicker”. So lets see how I go with that.
Better shower and go off to this Pot Luck lunch.

There are two school’s of thought about stretching before running.
Those that don’t explain you can damage your muscles by stretching them out when they’re cold. Instead you “warm up” by walking, or if you’re accustomed to running then light jogging. This warms up the muscles and prepares them for the activity you’re about to do.
All agree that you stretch afterwards and I know myself if I stretch immediately afterward I’m much freer than saying stretching at the end of the day.

Last time (a week or so back) I didn’t stretch and my muscles nearly died I think I mentioned I was in pain. So thought I would try stretching, it worked for me last time but not this time I got the same muscle pain as last time but worked through it easier this run.
