Can I do it? Yes I can!

My life to being fit and healthy

4 Days in brief

Thursday was my rest day and I did just that.  I had a friend visit so we sat and chatted and then after picking up our boys they came back again so more sitting and chatting.  That night Martin and I finished making a few Christmas presents as had the opportunity of free delivery up to the Coromandel.

Friday I got up and did my Turbo Jam.  I am still struggling getting up at 6am and getting straight into any exercise.  I had no kids for the morning so intended reading my book but then realised I had offered to help Kindy with the Library visit.  I did get a couple of chapters read.  So at 10.30am I was at kindy walking a group of 4 kids.  To get there we have to go through a subway tunnel and boy the kids love screaming.  After Kindy Isaiah had his friend over for a play date and we dropped him back after picking up Dayna from day-care.  We then met Martin from the bus and came home changed and went to the park to meet some other friends so the kids could ride their bikes.  That night we stayed home and caught up on programmes we had videoed.

Saturday I was up for my cycle.  It was a 20min ride.  It was a lovely, still day and yet it felt like I still had to work which just seemed crazy on such a lovely day.  I got home to start on the lasagna for dinner as we had Martin’s parents coming over as they were then babysitting while we went to a Fundraiser Quiz Night.  I also made Modern Zucchini Slice (like a quiche kind of) as catching up with friends for lunch.  We went to their house and then went to the park for the kids but the weather turned.  So back to their house for cake.

The Zucchini Slice is full of veges but has eggs x 3, flour, a little bit of bacon and potatoes.  Due to this what would have been thought of as a really healthy meal actually cost 5points for 1 slice.  253g of Lasagna is 6.5points.

I did really well with my eating and portions as both lunch and dinner there were salads and I took a big helpings of that.  With the cake at lunch I ate a slither, it was yummy and would have been easy to have more.

We went to the quiz night and had to take a plate so I took brownie as Martin loves it.  It was a great night there were 10 rounds on lots of different questions on Entertainment, Music, Sports, Bible, History and Geography.  All questions were quite wide in range so no section was a walk in the park.  They had a half time activity that Martin won, yay, but the prize was chocolate and that was my downfall.  I even ate only crackers and cheese for supper not the yummy sweet foods that were there.  So disappointed I spoilt my day of healthy options right at the end.

Today we slept in which was nice as we have had a few late nights again and also Dayna woke through the night last night.  When we got motivated I went for my run.  Unfortunately Dayna wanted to come, so everyone got ready and Martin took them on their bikes while I ran.  I was determined to run 1.5kms which is 400m more than before.

I did so well got to the street that is my 1/2 way point and turned around and came back, my gut was really aching like a tummy bug but I wanted to push through and do this, I was so determined.  I made it to the end of the block I fell short of 2 runs ago and kept going.  I was really pushing myself with determination but my body wasn’t as keen as my head and I got half way through the next block.  Now I don’t know if my body or mind gave in first but I could see the family so I don’t know if that connection allowed me to but I stopped and walked.  I was so disappointed I nearly cried on Martin’s shoulder.  I walked 3 lamp posts and then just started running again.  So I have just run 1400m with the 100m shy being near the end but not quite.  I am really bummed but now I have another small goal to still achieve before reaching for the 3k goal.

Would you have known lamp posts are about 30m apart?

Well I have wound down by typing here, so must hit the showers and do something with the day.  It is threatening to rain so don’t know what will be on the agenda.  Maybe making Donut Muffins as they are a hit in our house.

Don’t beat yourself up. You’ve still achieved more than previously, and have something to look forward to. You are still on track to your goal. Go girl!!
As to your food intake, yeah it’s hard when there are so many yummy things on offer but be strong – you can do it.

I don’t suppose you want to know that crackers have a high amount of fat, not to mention cheese. You might have been better to steer clear of those and just get a slice of cake ;-)

I wasn’t going to have anything sweet at lunchtime either. But Ruth had lolly cake. Who can resist lolly cake?

Don’t be too hard on yourself about the run. I suspect you’re more annoyed than anything because you realise you could have made it.

Sounds like you’ve had quite a full-on few days. Have a good rest of the weekend.

They are rice crackers and you can have 10 for only 1 point. I had 4 crackers with cheese. it was thin slices so all up the cheese and crackers were 2points.
I know my foods and quantities so stick to them so can be safe.
