Can I do it? Yes I can!

My life to being fit and healthy

30mins of pain

First of can you come over and eat this baking.  I guess it is a compliment to myself that I want to eat the baking but man I have eaten to much of it and have to work hard to make up for it.  Please come for afternoon tea so it is gone.

Today you will experience rain and heavy winds and more rain.  Take a raincoat as you go out.

I dropped the kids off and went shopping for a birthday present as the weather was yuck.  I got home at 10.45am and decided I still had to go as needed to help the baking speed through the system.  I did notice the rain had stopped and the wind would be at my back so would make the 1500m run easier.  I decided to conquer the 1500m before running hills also didn’t want to go up hill in this weather, also this session is a 40min session.  I planned running 1500m and then the rest of the 40mins would be a walk/run.  Off I went still trying to find a zone to make the run easier than thinking about how tough I find running.

I was nearly at the 750m mark when a pain tore up my left calf and made me stop on the spot.  Man it hurt.  I triedd to walk put each step shot pain through my calf.  It felt like I had a piece of string inside my leg that was being pulled everytime I placed my foot down.  I tried stretching it but I couldn’t even get my heel down without the pain being too much.

I hobbled along hoping the muscle would warm up and ease.  It didn’t and I got to the one hill in this course to get me home and it was so hard to get up to the stop bank due to the pain.  I did get up and continued walking homeward.  Funny thing is my body kept trying to run but my head wasn’t so sure.  I tried but the calf protested at every stride.  I made it home and was out for the 40mins.

Once home I stretched some more and have rubbed the muscle but it is tender to even touch it.  Hopefully it will ease and tomorrow I will go out 1st thing and try this 1500m run again even though it is a rest day, I feel the walk was a rest as didn’t get to push myself .  Although walking with the pain was a push.

Hi, have a look at this:
http://fencepost.wordpress.com/2008/07/16/running-shouldnt-be-easyrunning-shouldnt-be-easy/

Also, go get yourself some Anti Flamme. It’s a natural product. You can get it at a chemist or some supermarkets have it.

It smells like peppermint (cos it’s an ingredient) but does a better job than Deep Heat. It makes you feel cold when something comes into contact.

But the thing is to heat up the muscle so the rubbing will do it, and vigorous rubbing of the AF into, but not rough.

Did you put an ice pack on it? You need to reduce the swelling – and sometimes you can’t see any but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Be sensible in the morning. If it’s still twinging don’t run. You don’t want to aggravate it. What is better, to rest a day or two or to inflame the area and find yourself off running for a few weeks.

I’m like you with the baking (or rubbish in the pantry). If only it weren’t there. I can’t bring myself to throw it away though.

Hope the calf comes right, and stretch stretch stretch it (after exercise – like NOW)

And you can’t even fool yourself with the baking. First half of tray I cut each ‘slice’ (across the tray) into 6 pieces. I gave heaps away, but still would eat 2 pieces at a time. Decided to make the second half of tray with each ‘slice’ into 8 pieces figuring if I only eat 2 then I’m eating less. But no, what do I do? Eat 3 pieces which obviously works out at more than what the 2 would have done. It is nice though!!!
